Watermelon Slushie Mocktail (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ For the Slushie

01 - 5 ⅔ cups watermelon, cubed (about half a large melon)
02 - 1 ½ cup frozen sliced strawberries
03 - ½ cup granulated sugar
04 - ⅓ cup freshly squeezed lime juice

→ For Garnish (Optional)

05 - Small watermelon slices for rim garnish
06 - Paper straws

# Instructions:

01 - Slice half of a large melon, discarding the rind and seeds. Cube up 5 ⅔ cups of melon (1.1 kg) and spread it out in a single layer on a large cookie sheet. Freeze for at least 1-2 hours, but preferably overnight.
02 - Place some of the frozen watermelon along with the freshly squeezed lime juice and the sugar in a powerful blender. Blend on low speed until combined.
03 - Gradually blend in the remaining melon and the frozen strawberries. You'll need to add water occasionally to help the blender crush the fruit.
04 - Taste the drink and add more sugar or lime juice if desired. Adjustments may be needed depending on the sweetness of the fruit used.
05 - Pour into 14-ounce glasses and garnish with a small watermelon slice on the rim of the glass and paper straws. Serve immediately, or pour into a pitcher and store in the freezer until ready to serve.

# Notes:

01 - Squeeze your own lime juice with a citrus press or reamer for the best flavor.
02 - If the slushie is too thick, add a little water or additional lime juice.
03 - If the slushie isn't thick enough, freeze it for an hour or two; then break up the icy clumps until smooth.
04 - This drink melts very quickly, so store it in the freezer until ready to serve.
