# Ingredients:

01 - 3 1/2 pounds Granny Smith apples, peeled and shredded.
02 - 5 tablespoons white sugar (for filling).
03 - 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.
04 - 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted.
05 - 1 cup cold butter, cubed.
06 - 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder.
07 - 1/2 cup white sugar (for crust).
08 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
09 - 1 medium egg.
10 - Powdered sugar for topping.
11 - Vanilla ice cream for serving (optional).
12 - Whipped cream for serving (optional).

# Instructions:

01 - Cook apples with sugar and cinnamon on low heat for 20 minutes until soft. Cool completely.
02 - Mix flour, baking powder, and sugar. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add vanilla and egg.
03 - Divide dough, making one part larger. Refrigerate both parts 15 minutes.
04 - Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 8x12 or 10-inch round pan.
05 - Roll larger dough for bottom crust. Add cooled filling. Grate remaining dough on top.
06 - Bake 50 minutes until golden. Cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar.
