Perfect Basic Scones (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 cups flour (250g).
02 - 1/2 cup sugar (100g).
03 - 1/2 tsp salt.
04 - 2 1/2 tsp baking powder.
05 - 1/2 cup frozen butter (113g).
06 - 1/2 cup heavy cream (120ml).
07 - 1 large egg.
08 - 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract.
09 - 1-1.5 cups mix-ins.
10 - Coarse sugar for topping.

# Instructions:

01 - Whisk flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Grate frozen butter and mix into flour until crumbly.
02 - Combine cream, egg and vanilla. Pour over flour mixture with add-ins and mix until moistened.
03 - Form dough into 8-inch disc on floured surface. Cut into 8 wedges.
04 - Brush with cream, sprinkle with sugar. Refrigerate 15 minutes.
05 - Arrange on lined sheet, bake at 400°F for 18-26 minutes until golden.

# Notes:

01 - Use frozen butter for flaky texture.
02 - Don't skip the chilling step.
03 - Can be made ahead and frozen.
