Heat oven to 400°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg, milk, vanilla. Mix in flour and baking powder until dough forms.

On floured surface, roll dough 1/4-1/6 inch thick. Cut shapes and transfer to baking sheets.

Bake 5-8 minutes until edges brown. Cool on sheet 3-4 minutes before moving to rack.

Gather scraps, re-roll and cut more shapes. Don't waste dough.
