One-Pan Cheesy Baked Italian Sausage (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 10 Italian sausages, sliced
02 - ½ cup water
03 - 24 oz marinara sauce (use low carb version)
04 - 1½ cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
05 - ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated

→ Seasonings

06 - 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
07 - ½ teaspoon garlic powder
08 - ½ teaspoon onion powder
09 - ½ teaspoon dried basil
10 - Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

→ For Garnish

11 - Fresh parsley, chopped

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
02 - Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced Italian sausages to the pan and cook until browned on all sides, stirring occasionally. This will take about 5-7 minutes.
03 - Pour the water into the skillet with the browned sausage. Lower the heat to medium-low, cover the skillet with a lid, and let the sausage simmer for 8 minutes. This helps ensure the sausage is cooked through and becomes tender.
04 - Remove the skillet from the heat. Pour the marinara sauce over the sausage, making sure all the pieces are covered. Evenly sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
05 - Sprinkle the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, dried basil, and black pepper evenly over the cheese layer.
06 - Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-18 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Then switch the oven to broil setting and broil for about 2 minutes, or until the cheese gets a golden, slightly crispy top. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
07 - Remove from the oven, sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley, and serve hot. This dish can be served on its own for a low-carb meal or with pasta, garlic bread, or a fresh salad.

# Notes:

01 - You can use any type of Italian sausage - sweet, mild, or hot depending on your spice preference.
02 - For an even lower carb version, check the marinara sauce label and choose one with no added sugars.
03 - If you don't have an oven-safe skillet, you can transfer the sausage mixture to a baking dish before adding the cheese and seasonings.
