Breakfast Stuffed Puff Pastry Bars (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base

01 - 2 puff pastry sheets

→ Sausage Gravy

02 - 8 oz ground sausage
03 - 1/4 cup flour
04 - 1/4 cup milk, plus more as needed
05 - 1 tsp pepper

→ Filling

06 - 1 1/2 cup frozen shredded hash browns
07 - 4 slices havarti or cheddar cheese
08 - 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

→ Egg Wash

09 - 1 egg
10 - 2 tbsp heavy cream

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Cook sausage without draining. Add flour to create roux, then milk and pepper. Adjust consistency with additional milk if needed.
03 - Fry hash browns until golden and crispy on both sides.
04 - Layer on bottom pastry: sausage gravy, hash browns, half egg mixture, cheese slices. Leave 1-inch border.
05 - Top with second pastry sheet, seal edges with fork. Brush with remaining egg wash. Bake 18-23 minutes until golden. Cool 5-10 minutes before cutting.

01 - Best served hot for maximum flakiness
02 - Can use drier gravy for better texture
03 - Cut into 9 pieces or smaller as needed
