# Ingredients:

01 - 3 cups almond flour (not almond meal)
02 - ¾ cup sugar
03 - pinch of salt
04 - 1 tsp baking powder
05 - 1 Tbsp orange zest (optional)
06 - 3 egg whites
07 - 1 tsp vanilla or almond extract
08 - 1/2 cup chocolate chips
09 - 1 cup sliced almonds
10 - powdered sugar for dusting

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F.
02 - Line the baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
03 - In a bowl, combine almond flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and orange zest. Set aside.
04 - In another bowl, beat egg whites and vanilla extract with an electric mixer until thick and stiff.
05 - Using a spatula, gradually mix the beaten egg whites with the dry ingredients until a sticky dough forms.
06 - Add chocolate chips and fold gently until combined.
07 - Place sliced almonds on a plate. Using a cookie scoop, scoop about two tablespoons of dough, drop it onto the plate, and roll in almond pieces to form a ball.
08 - Bake in the center of the oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the edges are slightly golden, but the centers remain pale.
09 - Allow cookies to cool for 10 minutes on the baking sheet, then for another 10 minutes on a wire rack.
10 - Dust the cookies with powdered sugar and serve.

# Notes:

01 - Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
02 - You can substitute lemon zest for orange zest, or omit the zest and chocolate chips for variations.
